AHMEDABAD: Bringing great optimism to the semiconductor manufacturing landscape of Gujarat, Taiwanese contract chip maker Foxconn chairman Young Liu chairman Says that Gujarat would always be their first choice for investments.
Liu paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel on Saturday. He was in Gandhinagar for the Semicon India Conference, taking place at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition and Convention Centre from July 28 to 30.
"Gujarat will always be the first choice for Foxconn's investment," Liu said, expressing the company's commitment to establishing a manufacturing plant in India.
Foxconn recently ended its joint venture partnership with the Vedanta Group to invest in manufacturing a semiconductor fab and display fab at Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). However, the company affirmed its dedication to supporting India's semiconductor ambitions.
During the meeting, CM Patel briefed Liu about the benefits and incentives provided under the Semiconductor Policy 2022-27. Gujarat is the first state to have implemented a dedicated policy for semiconductor manufacturing.
"Gujarat is poised to become the semiconductor hub of the nation," Patel said.
Chief principal secretary to CM, K Kailashnathan, chief secretary Raj Kumar, additional chief secretary Pankaj Joshi, and secretary of the department of science & technology Vijay Nehra were present during the meeting in Gandhinagar.
